The Helm Skate Festival is an angling festival for common and other species of skate in the Clew Bay area and takes place on the 6th October, 2012. Anglers from the UK and Ireland will fish for huge Common Skate over the two days with the laragest fish getting a first prize of €2,000. The event is run by The Helm Bar & Restaurant in Westport, and they can be contacted for further information.
