Bruree —County Limerick

Set in the valley of the Maigue river, which was the seat of local kings during the era leading into the early Christian period. Stone Age and Bronze Age exhibits feature in the local museum which also honours Eamonn de Valera, third President and key feature in the shaping of modern Ireland whose old school has been converted to a museum. The village streetscape is dominated by the second largest mill wheel in Ireland, which has been restored to full working order. The de Valera cottage where the future President and 1916 uprising leader was reared, lies a mile from the village.
