Dingle International Film Festival ranks as one of the best film festivals for content, atmosphere, location & attention to detail. Dingle overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and is an Irish language community with a tradition of film, music & literature. It is home to many filmmakers, one of Ireland's only independent cinemas, is a known film location & a major tourist destination. The festival offers unique screening experiences in wonderful venues, stars & talent attending seminars & workshops, and is home to The Gregory Peck Award. This year includes: The Gathering; 'Celebrating 30 years of Fungi in Dingle Bay' through film & story; presentation of The Gregory Peck Award; a profile on artist Pauline Bewick and a public interview. Also 'Design a Cartoon Character' - a national competition promoted by RTE and in association with JAM media & MEDIA Desk Ireland; Animation Dingle - a showcase of all top Irish Animation companies, each to present their work in Dingle; Físín - a national Irish script competition/€5,000 cash and €2,000 film equipment rental to the winner; and international & Irish film screenings along with short film screenings & free family screening.
