This will be the 31st running of the Women's Mini Marathon. Approximately 600 charities will be represented, and many of these, over recent years, have made the Flora Women's Mini Marathon their main fundraising event. There will be all standards of competitors participating, from walkers to elite runners and the energy and enthusiasm generated makes this the most eagerly awaited sporting event of the year. Last year's winner, Linda Byrne, went on to represent Ireland in the London Olympic Games. The race has got so big there is now a cut-off limit at 40,000, and each year there are hundreds of disappointed women, who miss getting their entries in on time.
