The Helvick Sponsored Swim & BBQ is the main fundraising event in aid of the Helvick Lifeboat Station. Helvick, one of the sunniest spots in Ireland, comes alive with the tantalising aroma of the BBQ and colour and atmosphere on the bunting bedecked pier provide the backdrop to this annual great family day out, which has grown in popularity over the years attracting people from all corners of Ireland and beyond. There are two concurrent swims, the longer 4k commencing at Ballinacourty Pier and the 2k starting from Ballinacourty Lighthouse. Sponsored swimmers are required to register and pass a proficiency test in advance. Further information will become available after March 1, 2013.
