The main aims of the event are to raise awareness of the north western coastal zone and opportunities for development therein, also?to raise the profile of a selection of stakeholders participating in the event and to raise awareness and funds for the R.N.L.I Sligo operation. We have 10 teams comprised of two persons in each. The teams would be comprised of businesses and organisations who have an interest in promoting Sligo and the coastal zone. We have teams from the R.N.L.I, local water based operators, Discover Sligo, some retailers who specialise in the area and I.T Sligo students and staff. Key points for entrants.?There is no experience of fishing necessary and Sligo Sea Shore Fishing School will be providing equipment, tuition and bait. If you wish to bring your own equipment and bait, you may do so.?Teams are comprised of two persons. One rod per team limit.?Please bring warm clothes, rain protection and waders or wellies. Feel free to use your promotional material ie, a flag with your logo to plant in the sand or display your organisation/company logo displayed on a sweatshirt, etc. There will be tea/coffee and light refreshments available during the day. We would appreciate a contribution of €50 per team toward the event and the R.N.L.I rescue services. The competition will take place on Streedagh Beach, Sligo. Monday 3rd December 2012, starting at 10:30am and the day will start at 10:30 with an introduction to sea angling and tuition from Sligo Seashore Angling.??The competition will start at 11:30 and will run for two and a half hours.??There will be a trophy for first place, the I.T Sligo/R.N.L.I Perpetual Angling Trophy. There will also be a selection of other prizes in various categories.
