Baltimore Deep Sea Angling Festival

Baltimore

23 August 2012 - 26 August 2012

The Baltimore Deep Sea Angling Festival is South West Ireland's longest-running angling competition and is noted for exciting fishing and an atmosphere of friendly rivalry. It is open to all and usually attracts around 60 anglers from Ireland and abroad. All the boats are approved charter boats with licensed skippers. A separate one-day shark fishing contest is followed by a three-day bottom fishing competition for fish like conger, ling, pollack, cod, common skate, etc. Results are determined on a points basis so fish not wanted for personal use can be returned safely to the sea. In keeping with the conservation ethos, all sharks and skate caught are also tagged for research purposes. Trophies and prizes are presented at a prize-giving dinner on the last night. However, you can be a winner even without entering for the whole event as there are also daily cash prizes after each day's fishing.
