Fota Island liegt wie eine Urlaubsinsel inmitten einer sonst sehr lebhaften Umgebung und genau das macht seinen Reiz aus. Der Golfplatz liegt sehr zentral nur eine kurze Wegstrecke von Cork entfernt. Man hat die Möglichkeit eine Golfstunde an der Golf Academy zu belegen oder auch ein kleines bisschen Wellness vor Ort zu genießen. Padraig Harrington hat das 18. Loch dieses Platzes zu seiner Lieblingsbahn gekürt und es fanden schon einige Irish Open hier statt.
