Inagh probably derives its name from the old church around which the village developed, 'teampul dubh na hEidhnighe', the 'black church of the ivy'.
Located in the village, a small pub brewery, The Biddy Early Brewery named after a famous Clare woman, has been brewing since September 1995. The pub and brewery is family run and brews only chemical free beverages. Customers can watch brew being prepared and taste the award winning beers. (Biddy Early, who died in 1847, was reputed to have strange powers and her notoriety led to a charge of witchcraft !)
