Der Hook-Leuchtturm im County Wexford ist der älteste noch im Betrieb befindliche Leuchtturm der Welt. Der Legende nach war es Dubhan, ein walisischer Mönch des 6. Jahrhunderts, der als erster ein Leuchtfeuer auf dem Hook-Felsen entzündete, nachdem er voller Entsetzen unten zwischen den Steinen die Leichen schiffbrüchiger Seeleute gesehen hatte.
