Siarscéal Festival is a historical, literary, bilingual and rambling festival hosted annually in different venues, inspired by the culture and heritage of Roscommon's River Basins. On Friday, Kieran Furey will read from his latest collection 'The History House', poems directly written about Strokestown Famine. Strokestown transition-year students will participate in the exhibition with bilingual poetry/art exhibits, reflecting also on the famine ships as they sojourned to Canada. A bilingual poetry musical recital by the Strokestown students will also feature during this evening's performance. Especially for inclusion in Siarscéal are famine-themed 'Painting Stories' by local school children. Author Hazel McIntyre will read and talk about her Canadian roots. Guest Musicians: George Patrick Eggleston and Harpist Lora O'Reilly. On Saturday - 10.00-18.30: Siarscéal Famine collaborative exhibit, with a special screening of 'Death or Canada' from 14.00-16.00. From 20.00-22.30: Production launch and reception, as well as patrons address, and guest poets readings. On Easter Sunday, Moon River Cruiser Poetry Recital to music featuring Charlie McGettigan, poet Mary Branley, Strokestown themed production and local poetry readings with musical interludes. Boarding at 16.20 until 18.30. 20.00-22.30: Production launch and reception. Patrons Address; Guest Poets Readings and evening entertainment.
