Kiltimagh 'In Sight of Raftery' Festival

The Kiltimagh ' In Sight of Raftery ' Festival, is almost a week-long festival of poetry, storytelling, writing and music, celebrating the history and culture of Kiltimagh as the birthplace of the famous blind bard, Raftery. It was set up to attract writers, poets and cultural enthusiasts to the town of Kiltimagh, and to increase cultural activity in the town. The programme will include poetry readings by well-known poets, and a network of poets and writers visit the town of Kiltimagh regularly. Writers, international author, Elizabeth Mace (Louise Lawrence), Colette Nic Aodha, Philip Casey, Paul Casey, Ger Reidy, Geraldine Mitchell and Terry McDonagh, will feature, as well as singer-songwriter Tony Reidy Piper, Diarmuid Moynihan, Joe Byrne on flute and story and historian Basil Burke. Ollie Burke and Mary McNicholas will pay tribute to Raftery in song. There will be exhibitions throughout the festival at the Town Hall Theatre Gallery & Main Hall of the work of artists Sally McKenna and Jane Page.
