Tulsk —County Roscommon
South of Rathcroghan is the village of Tulsk, the 'hillock of the thorn tree', once a place of importance and a borough that sent a member to parliament. Tulsk has one of the strongest castles in the province built by O'Connor Roe, 1406. On the raised ground south of Tulsk is Carnfree, where the Kings of Connaught were crowned.
At Rathcroghan near Tulsk is Europe's best preserved and largest Celtic Royal Site.
