Dunshaughlin Harvest Festival
Dunshaughlin
27 September 2012 - 30 September 2012
The music, food & craft and family festival is a fusion of food, folk and fun! There's trad music on the streets, live music in the pavilion, opera in the restaurants, drama in the old courthouse, impromptu sessions in the pubs and Rock meets Classic at the Cultural Night. Our Village Market plays host to professional foodies, artisan foods and quality Irish craft makers. Heritage trails, genealogy advice and historical tours showcase the rich heritage of the greater Dunshaughlin area. Children love the village games and sports, the petting farm, the science & music workshops and the arts & crafts tent. Try on a helmet during the local Fire-fighter demo, watch the farrier shoe a horse in the local forge, see basket weaving, pottery making, and woodturning, as well as the vintage cars and tractors on display. Get your creative juices flowing and design a robot, make a scarecrow, or build a go-kart and enter the hilarious Soap Box Derby. This year why not join our quirky village parade, give us a hand (print) for a supersized mural to be completed during the festival, or grab a chair and help us achieve a record for the biggest - and no doubt funniest! - Musical Chairs game ever held in Ireland! Wander through the pop-up shops and view the paintings, photography, short stories and poems entered in the festival competitions. In its inaugural year in 2011, Dunshaughlin Harvest Festival won a Meath Tourism & Business award and a Dunshaughlin Community award. Just 30 minutes by bus or car from Dublin city centre and within an hour's drive of Kildare, Cavan, Monaghan, Louth and Westmeath, Dunshaughlin Harvest Festival is a fantastic day out or weekend away!
