Celebrating Brigid of Faughart at Imbolc
Carlingford
28 January 2010 - 01 February 2010
This current festival has evolved from many years of small but significant celebrations of Brigid of Faughart There is a strong connection with and devotion to Brigid in the Dundalk area. We decided to build on that energy and expand the festival to offer a greater variety of events including the folklore, mythology and spirituality associated with Brigid. This would attract a wider and more diverse audience.and would be of great benefit to both local people and visitors. We believe that through these events that local heritage will not only be maintained in a historical way but will become relevant to people in their daily lives in present times. The lectures and workshops will offer opportunities * for expanding deepening our knowledge of Brigid *for tasting the Wisdom that she was and still is *for Integrating Feminine Consciousness more surely into contemporary culture. The music and the time honoured rituals associated with Brigid and Imbolc will nourish our hearts and souls, and give us confidence in these uncertain times. Brat Bhríde ( Maura Lennon, Mairead Heaney, Fr Tom Hamill and Dolores Whelan) is a voluntary group who have come together to organise this festival.
