Michael Fearon / Kevin Marron 5K Road Race

This is a memorial race, organised by Glenmore AC in Carlingford, for a former member of the club Michael Fearon who died, and Kevin Marron, former editor of the Sunday World, who supported the club in their early years. This well-established race starts under King John's Castle in the picturesque village of Carlingford with the back drop of Slieve Foye and the Mourne Mountains. It is professionally chipped and entries can be taken on-line with Run Ireland. The prize fund for the event totals €2000 with a bonus of €200 for anyone who can beat the course record (of 15.04, set by Andrew Ledwith in 2011). The 2012 winners David Rooney and Maria McCambridge of international fame will be encouraged to return to defend their titles. T-shirts for all finishers and refreshments served in the hall after the race. The juvenile programme begins at 7pm with the senior race starting at 8pm. For the senior race competitors are encouraged to enter on-line with entries been taken on the night in the local hall up to 7pm. The 2013 event incorporates The Gathering and Glenmore AC members promise to make it an event to remember!
