Caisleann Oir

Letterkenny

20 November 2013 - 23 November 2013

This musical adaptation of Séamus O' Grianna's Caisleain Oir has been staged to widespread acclaim, having won the prestigious Association of Irish Musical Societies special adjudicator's award in June, 2006. The play follows the story of Séimí Gallagher who, having previously emigrated to Scotland, has returned home to his childhood sweetheart 'Babaí Mháirtín' Friel in Ireland in 1921. The story spans from 1873 to the 1921 opening scene and covers their childhood together and the trials and tribulations both endure during their adventures growing up and, in Séimí's case, emigrating. A colourful cast of characters, including the dubious gambling wastrel Cearrbhach, supports the lead couple in this epic tale. The show premiered in An Grianán in the autumn of 2000 and is returning to its place of birth. This show is a musical extravaganza not to be missed and early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. Dates to be confirmed.
