The Hollywood Fair
14 August 2013 - 18 August 2013
The Hollywood Fair is a community fun festival taking place over 3 days in August with the aim of showcasing the local heritage, informing the present generation and attracting tourism while also fundraising for local charities. The festival is themed on pre-1950's rural life when people had to be self-reliant and where a high value was placed on traditional skills and crafts. Events include a threshing demonstration, demonstrating the blacksmith shoeing the horses, the cooking of colcannon, storytelling of the time, and music and dance to celebrate the bringing home the harvest but just to name a few. The fair recognizes the sheep tradition in the local community and part of the festival theme is to recreate the traditional sheep fair of that period. Hollywood's strong sense of community coupled with the dedication of the volunteers who organise the event are sure to make for a truly amazing weekend.
