The manager of the Café, Peter Mackenzie, has played a major part in the literary culture of the city. On closing Bookworm Bookshop in 2008 he was more than pleased to have the opportunity to continue fostering an interest in all things literary. Peter has brought a very wide eclectic mix of books to either browse or buy (at a bargain price). The Café itself prepares its own home made scones, soups, and stew.
The emphasis is on wholesome, healthy food. Although not vegetarian the food on offer will allow any vegetarian to be satisfied. It is the hope that as well as good food, the Café will become known for its range of postcards, old prints and tourist information. Peter’s ambitious plans also include jazz, folk, and single songwriters live music.
