O Briens Bridge —County Clare

Angling and natural watersports centre with historical stone bridge linking to twin Montpelier village on county Limerick side of the river Shannon. The stretch from O'Brien's Bridge - Montpelier to Castleconnel is regarded as the best on the entire river for water-sports. Angling is also another major attraction to the area. There is a massive weir upstream at Parteen where the mighty flow of the Shannon is diverted into a manmade canal, the headrace for the hydro-electric station at Ardnacrusha.
