Als einer der Gewinner des “Committed to Green Award”, hat sich Colin Montgomerie ganz bewusst für ein klassisches Design entschieden. Der Montgomerie Platz ist ein Par 72 von 6,6 km Länge. Die Tees sind so angelegt, dass man mit dem Wind spielt. Montgomerie selber sagte zu diesem Platz: “Die Besten Spieler der Welt werden hier immer ihr bestes Golf spielen”. Als Gastgeber der Irish Open konnte der Platz dieses schon mehrfach beweisen.
