Kilkenny ist eine quirlige, aufstrebende Stadt mit einer interessanten mittelalterlichen Geschichte und einer blühenden Kunstgewerbe-Industrie. Mittlerweile ist es einer der attraktivsten Orte in Irlands  Südosten.

800 Jahre schon thront die normannische Burg über den alten Straßen der Stadt. Doch Kilkenny selbst ist inzwischen ausgesprochen hip. Diverse Restaurants, gut besuchte Pubs und Bars sorgen für kosmopolitisches Flair.

Die Stadt ist auch Gastgeber eines weltbekannten Comedy-Festival, des „Cat Laughs Comedy Festival“, auf dem Künstler aus der ganzen Welt auftreten und für blendende Unterhaltung sorgen. 

Wenn Sie es ruhiger wünschen, ziehen Sie sich aufs unberührte Land zurück. Herrliche Waldparks und der stille Nore-Fluss werden Sie bezaubern.
